This is going to sound smug and yet here goes. In many ways, I feel like I’m finally the person I was always meant to be. It’s taken me a long time and a lot of effort and I’m most definitely still a work in progress and always will be, but I feel like I’m on the right track. And for a long time, I didn’t even know what track I needed to be on, and certainly didn’t believe in myself enough to check out various tracks to make sure I was on the right one.
As I’ve mentioned before, Will Rogers reminded us that even if we’re on the right track, we’ll get run over if you just sit there. And for years that’s what I did, just sit there so to speak, because I didn’t believe I had the right and worth to acknowledge where I needed to grow and focus on being what I felt I needed to be. Has this ever happened to you?
Are you the person you were always meant to be? And if not, what needs changing?
When Hurricane Helene dropped by recently, it reminded me of just how fickle and unsure our lives really are. We can’t wait around and assume that someday we’ll take the chance or start whatever is relevant to us. We need to get going now.
Now is definitely the only time we’ve got, and what a pity it would be to wake up one day and realize it’s too late to be the person you were always meant to be. Today is a perfect time to get going!
As the great Dr. Seuss reminded us: “You have brains in your head, you have feet in your shoes, you can steer yourself any direction you choose.”
