Did you see the original Matrix movie, which came out in March 1999? It was about being unknowingly trapped inside a simulated reality, which wasn’t reality at all, just an illusion.

I remember when I first saw it thinking, well yes, that’s kind of what we are all living through most of the time. And we can create the same impact without special effects.

What we believe is reality is based on upbringing, conditioning, and a myriad of other things. My reality may be completely different from yours. I’m reminded of a story I heard so long ago I can’t remember the details, but it was about an actress who came to Hollywood from somewhere in the Midwest and became a star. When interviewed, she basically said she had
no idea it was supposed to be so difficult to make it in LA, and so she believed in her ability to get the roles she needed to soar. Others, of course, may come with the same passion and desire, but if they’re encumbered with a belief that it’s almost impossible to succeed, then the chances of becoming a movie star are about the same as winning the lottery.

What are your fundamental beliefs? Do you believe you’re too old to accomplish what you want? That you’re surrounded by people who aren’t helpful? Or that you’re stuck in a low-end job because it would be impossible to find the job you want? Or maybe that you’re not brave enough to do what you want to do?

Every person carries his or her reality around with them at all times, and it determines how they see the world, their ability to navigate through it and even how healthy they decide to be.

Today is a great day to determine what reality you need in order to be the very best version of yourself.
